Juniper Tree Ruin
Found on the surface near Juniper Ruin was this pristine translucent Anasazi projectile point (arrowhead).
This fairly good size ruin is one of the least known and seldom seen sites between Bluff and Blanding, Utah. You can just make out the large section of juniper tree contructed into the front wall in this photo.
Juniper Tree Ruin is somewhat unique in that it incorporates large sections of juniper trees into it's construction.
Cedar Mesa / Grand Gulch / Comb Ridge and Beyond Mesa Verde hats now available. Please click on the above photo to link to the Beyond Mesa Verde Hats site.
I spend most of my free time hiking and wandering the seldom seen Anasazi ruins in the canyons near Bluff and Blanding in Southeastern Utah.
Still playing my sitar since the 1960's
Beyond Mesa Verde is my site that I use as an introduction to the Bluff and Blanding ruins. I do not really update this site other than when a new book or something relevant comes along. Click on the above photo to visit~ BEYOND MESA VERDE
If you are in the Four Corners area and love Anasazi ruins, this is a great place you may want to stay at. Check it out. Click on the logo or the photos below to link to The Kelly Place website.
The Raven House near Kelly Place
Relax in an adobe-style lodge or cabins, nestled between sculpted red-rock canyons and majestic Sleeping Ute Mountain. Fruit trees and gardens, prehistoric Indian ruins in various stages of archaeological excavation, and the amazing natural beauty of this “oasis on the edge of the desert” provide a unique setting for your visit. A self-guided tour of on-site ruins or an archaeologist-guided hike into Canyons of the Ancients National Monument on their northern border will leave you wondering about what it was like here a thousand years ago. Enjoy the relaxed southwestern hospitality on this secluded 40-acre estate. RV and tent-sites available.
